Know more about Robert M. Namoro



P R O F I L E

            Robert Marcos Namoro was born on September 17, 1967 at La Trinidad, Benguet Philippines.  He is the youngest among six children of Martin Basilio Namoro and Juliet Ticol Marcos.  He is married to Marie Vidaña Caga and blessed with two children, Robert Jay who is presently employed as a school nurse under the Department of Education and Maireen Jade, a third year tourism student at the University of Baguio.  They reside in Buyagan, Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines.  He is a member of the following clans:  SAGASA, KATKATANG-OMALJO-TICOL-MARCOS-PUNOC-CASLANGAN.

            As a young boy, he finished his elementary education at Pico Elementary School in 1980 now Puguis Elementary School, where he was a consistent honor pupil and graduated Salutatorian, and secondary education at the Mountain State Agricultural College (MSAC) in 1984.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, major in Horticulture and minor in Extension at Benguet State University, formerly Mt. State Agricultural College (MSAC) in 1988.

            Raised and educated in La Trinidad, Robert’s life in public service began in 1996 with his appointment as Barangay Kagawad of Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet. His leadership skills did not go unnoticed as he was formally elected Barangay Kagawad the following year until he finally became the Punong Barangay in July 2002, a position he currently holds on his third and final term where he ran unopposed. As a public servant, his commitment to anything and everything that concerns his constituents takes most, if not all, of his time. He was at the forefront of the implementation of various barangay programs, projects and activities such as infrastructure, social services, peace and order, public health and nutrition, environmental and religious concerns and other matters affecting his constituency. These efforts earned him and Barangay Poblacion various recognitions and commendations and became one of the progressive and developed urban barangays.

            During his tenure as Punong Barangay, he received the accolade as the Most Performing Barangay Captain in year 2006 awarded by the Province of Benguet during the Benguet Foundation Day.  In the same year, he was recognized as the Barangay Captain of the Year by the Baguio Midland Courier. The same newspaper also recognized him as the Barangay Kagawad of the Year in 2001.

            As the Punong Barangay, he is also the Lupon Chairman of the Lupong Tagapamayapa and under his leadership and supervision, the Lupong Tagapamayapa of Barangay Poblacion earned recognitions when it became the National Awardee of the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA) for two consecutive years, in 2007 and 2008.  They were also the recipient of the regional and provincial level equivalent of said awards.  In years when it did not receive the top prize, the Lupong Tagapamayapa of Poblacion was consistently nominated as an awardee. His familiarity in dealing with cases and disputes also earned him a seat as a member of the People’s law Enforcement Board (PLEB) of the Municipality of La Trinidad (2005-2007).

            Robert is concurrently the President of the ABC or “Liga ng mga Barangay” and as such, he is an Ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Bayan of the municipality of La Trinidad.  Elected to the position twice and ran unopposed on his second and current term as ABC President, he serves the municipality of La Trinidad with all the powers, functions and responsibilities of a municipal councilor.  He is also the Vice President of the ABC or Liga ng mga Barangay in the provincial level.  As an active local legislator, he authored, co-authored and supported several significant legislative measures, mostly focusing on the welfare of the barangays, its workers and for the public as a whole.

            Robert is active in different civic organizations such as the Philippine Red Cross-Benguet Chapter where he is a current member of the Board; the Multi-Sectoral Electrification Advisory Council (MSEAC), BENECO-District 7 where he is the current Chairman.  He is also a member of the Saleng Volunteer Probation Aid, Department of Justice-Benguet Chapter; the Benguet Operators and Drivers Association Multi-purpose Cooperative (BODA-MPC); the Buyagan Operators & Drivers Association (BODA); the Philippine Guardians Brotherhood, Inc. (PGBI)/Guardians Centre Foundation Inc.(GCFI), Bayang Pino and Salad Bowl Chapter with the pseudonym “RMG NOBLE”; and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

            The age-old phrase “Action speaks louder than words” best exemplifies his performance as both a leader and a “doer”. His family and the public are his priorities. Public service is his calling.
